Pets are always welcome in family sessions and I have experience in equine photography and dance photography.
I'm Jen, mother of four living in Lancaster County, PA. With two grown kids, and two younger ones adopted from China, I've had a camera in my hands and in my kids' faces for decades! Photography has always been a love of mine, from the little Kodak 110 pocket Instamatic I had as a kid, to the Pentax K1000 I had in college while editing the yearbook and working on the college newspaper...to my years scrapbooking as a Creative Memories consultant, and the digital world with my Canon 5D. I aim to capture unique photos of kids and families, in natural settings. School photos are, after all, boring! During a family session with young kids you will often find me climbing, crawling or chasing to get the kids relaxed and having fun. Since I now have grown kids and two grandchildren, I appreciate the little day-to-day moments with my youngest girls more and love to capture every moment. I love the beach, all things Disney, Scotland and Ireland, reading thrillers and watching British period dramas.
My style is "lifestyle." I love to creatively photograph children, seniors, couples and families in natural settings, in locations that have meaning to you and make you feel natural and special. I don't work in a studio and I don't work off set poses--The best photos are not posed! In one of my sessions you will receive an hour of of shooting time in the location of your choice, personalized and professional editing of each photo and at least 30 finished images to choose from in an online gallery. I pride myself in providing you excellent service, editing and uploading your photos to this site in one week, and of course, beautiful and affordable images. I offer both print and digital packages, and digital images are all high resolution with print release; unlike many photographers, I do not require a minimum purchase for prints or digital collections as I respect each individual's budget and needs.
I have considerable experience with equine sports which stems from my oldest daughter's passion for riding as a competitive equestrian showing hunters for the past 16 years. I love to photograph those special moments between horse and rider--we owned horses for ten years and I've worked in and the barns. I have photographed many riders with their beloved equine friends--children, seniors, adults and families.
In addition, as my younger girls are highly competitive Irish dancers who compete both nationally and internationally. I love capturing dancers in motion as well as portraits, in costume or in street clothes in fun local locations. Take a look at the portfolio to see a selection of my work.

About the Name:
Yes the name does derive from the poem "ladybug, ladybug, fly away home" but there's more to the story.
After we decided to pursue an adoption in China and submitted our dossier, I learned that the ladybug is the unofficial symbol of Chinese adoption and waiting adoptive moms embraced the ladybug as the symbol of our future daughters. Ladybugs became quite prevalent in my house in 2005! When it was time to name my photography business, I didn't want something ordinary like my name; it was more fitting to incorporate the ladybug. Fly Away Home Photography therefore honors my two Chinese ladybug daughters adopted in 2006 and 2009.
I am fully vaccinated and boostered for Covid-19.
