I had a quick trip to Ireland in February. My daughter was scheduled to dance at the All Irelands Irish Dance Championships, but had an injury earlier in the month. Friends said "you should go anyway!" I had to think about that. I haven't done a trip by myself ever! The tickets were all paid for, my husband was already planning to be home to watch the dogs so, I went!
Killarney is an amazing place. I stayed at a small hotel, the Victoria, across the street from the National Park and was treated to gorgeous views and a herd of the native red deer. The best part was I could go wherever I wanted and take as many photos as I wanted without anyone (aka my family) telling me "enough"!
The Victoria is a B&B with amazing food! I may have eaten smoked salmon every day!
Muckross Abbey is one of my favorite places. Located in the National park, it was founded around 1440 and was an established monastery until 1652 when the friars were driven out by Cromwell. A giant yew tree grows out of the cloister. I actually enjoy visiting on a gloomy Irish day...it adds to the charm.
I met up with two dancers --take a look at some of the shots! Umbrella was needed, and also makes a nice prop!
I had to do some moody black and white!
Where else in the world will photography take me?
